Handel on Teamsters Strike

Hollywood Teamsters are the drivers of Hollywood – literally, since they drive the trucks that move equipment to and from production sites. It's a simple equation: no Teamsters means no equipment, and no equipment means no movie or television production.

That's exactly the prospect Hollywood faced in mid-July. With the Teamsters' union contract set to expire at the end of the month, TroyGould attorney Jonathan Handel, writing a by-lined front page article in The Hollywood Reporter, broke the news that negotiations were at an impasse and that a possible strike loomed.

Over the next week, as the story played out, Handel continued to write for the Reporter (here and here), and was interviewed on KNX radio and KNBC television on the impasse.

Finally, on Sunday, the Teamsters ratified their contract, averting a strike. Handel's report appeared on the front page of Monday's Hollywood Reporter.
